What training does an Internal Medicine Specialist undergo?
LAASER’s internal medicine specialists are board-certified in Internal Medicine by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM) and have received the DACVIM credential. Internists complete a three-year accredited residency program after their rotating internships and veterinary school. Internal medicine specialists assess, diagnose, treat, and manage highly complicated conditions including chronic diseases. Internists are trained in the use of advanced diagnostics such as endoscopy, ultrasonography and Computed Tomography (CT) scans to aid in the investigation and treatment of these conditions.
