DVM, CVA, CTPEP, CVTP
Dr. L. Morgan Dixon was raised in Scranton, PA. While growing up she used her Fisher Price doctor’s kit to regularly examine her stuffed animals and provide bandages and treatment as needed.
She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Microbiology and Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine with Honors from the University of Florida. A rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery brought her to Florida Veterinary Specialists in Tampa. She remained on staff as an emergency medicine veterinarian.
When her personal Chow Chow, Hayle, in older age, developed hind end weakness the surgeon and neurologist said there was nothing they could do to help. She sought out acupuncture therapy. When she saw how much acupuncture helped Hayle return to her favorite activity, long walks, she enrolled in classes to learn Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine including acupuncture.
She attended The Chi University obtaining her Certification in Acupuncture in 2010, Certification in Chinese Medicine for Palliative and End of Life Care in 2013 and Certification in Tui-na in 2020. She attended the University of Tennessee’s Myofascial Trigger Point Therapy class in 2021 and is finishing her Certification in Companion Animal Rehabilitation Therapy.
Dr. Dixon founded a mobile veterinary practice in North Carolina to pursue her passion for treating senior pets with mobility issues and providing end of life care with Integrative Medicine.
A move to Los Angeles provided an opportunity to combine integrative medicine and physical rehabilitation therapy. She’s seen how the combination can have the best outcome for dogs, cats and other species with mobility issues, recovering from surgery or injury and chronic conditions which can be managed but not cured.
Her happy place is on a trail with her recently adopted 5 years of age German Short Haired Pointer, Vedder.
